Who We Are and Why You Should Train Here

At Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Houston, we believe Jiu-Jitsu is for EVERYONE, regardless of age, gender, athleticism, or ability. We are proud to continue the legacy of Grandmaster Hélio Gracie, who believed jiu-jitsu should empower the weak to defend against the strong. This is why we offer a structured martial arts curriculum specific to the self-defense needs of any demographic or skill level, with programs created for beginner adults, women, and children.

We take pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming learning environment for all students and family members in West Houston. We are passionate about what we do because, simply put, we believe confident humans make kinder humans.

About Professor Jackson Fortunato

Professor Jackson Fortunato, born in Brazil, overcame early challenges and adversity, finding purpose and resilience through Jiu Jitsu. Training with the Gracie family in Brazil, he discovered the transformative power of Jiu Jitsu, inspiring a lifelong mission to share its benefits.
After college, he brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to London, expanding his first academy into six locations and building a fulfilling career. In 2010, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he started a family and began a new chapter as an academy leader.
He established Gracie Jiu Jitsu Houston in the Memorial area, growing it from a small mat space into a thriving community academy that impacts thousands of students. For over a decade, he has helped children and adults build confidence, discipline, and resilience.
A fourth-degree black belt, Professor Jackson continues to grow under the mentorship of Master Leão Teixeira, Rener Gracie, and Ryron Gracie.
He has positively impacted over 5,000 lives in Houston and remains dedicated to empowering others through Jiu Jitsu. He continues to impact lives in Houston by providing world-class instruction, fostering community, and promoting the values of respect, confidence, and resilience.
